Challenge Day: Lindsay Gee’s 1000 Rep Challenge

March 7, 2019 By Lindsay Gee

Welcome to the Fueled Life’s first ever fitness challenge! I wanted to kick things off with a fitness challenge because my entire life has involved fitness and I thought what better way to get the group moving than with a BUNCH of exercises of joy and power?!

Today’s challenge is my 1000 Rep Challenge.

Newbies…before you freak out…HANG ON…

If you’re new to fitness or just getting back into it DO NOT FREAK OUT! If 50 reps of each of these exercises is freaking you out…cut it in half. Your challenge is a 500 Rep Challenge. Okay?! Now, breathe.

The rest of you yahoos who have been active for awhile, get through the 1000 reps!

You can do them all at once and use this challenge as your workout today OR you can print off the graphic, break the exercises up throughout the day tick them off as you get them done. It’s totally up to you as to how you work your way through the challenge. But…do it!

This is a full-body challenge with upper body, lower body, core and cardio exercises included. Because I love you. I love you very much. I love you enough to kick your buttocks and get you moving. Muwah! Smoochie smooch.

Here’s your challenge, my lovelies:

Personally, I cannot wait to tackle this today. I’m motivated and wanting to crush it!

Oh…and if you’re going to a class (ahem…I love Hot Mama classes!), YES…you can count any reps you get done in class towards this challenge, of course! Woop!

Have fun! And be sure to join the Fueled Life with Lindsay Gee’s Challenge & Accountability group for support, inspiration and encouragement!

Comments? Questions? Love and adoration? GREAT! Comment below and I’ll get back to you as soon as I possibly can!

You’re amazing. Don’t forget it.

Treadmill Extravaganza: Interval Sweat Session

February 21, 2019 By Lindsay Gee

I’ve been asked over and over to post a good treadmill interval workout for y’all. So, here’s one for you to give a whirl. I love it because it’s quick, super effective and you’ll get a good sweat on and feel accomplished when you’re all done.

There are a few advantages to doing interval workouts that I want to remind you of:

  • Metabolic booster: A good interval workout will have you burning calories for a longer period of time AFTER you’re finished working out. That means your “workout” goes on and on even after you’re off the treadmill. But no, that doesn’t give you permission to “indulge” and eat more!
  • Mood enhancer: Metabolic/interval workouts have been shown to improve your mood. So, if you’re having a bad day, get your buns on the treadmill and set those endorphins free!
  • Quick: One of the best parts of this workout is that it is under 30 minutes. I know you can find the time to get this in, so plan your day accordingly and GET TO WORK!

As always, I work on a Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE). To make it easier on everyone, I use a scale from 1-10 with 1 being at home in bed sleeping, and 10 being all-out maximal effort.

I love using RPE as it allows you to see improvements quickly AND on good days you’ll push harder and on bad days, you’ll note changes in speed or incline. It’s such an interesting way to workout – I’m also slightly nerdy when it comes to learning about the body (hello, PhD), but hey…I figure y’all should learn what it feels like to push your body to a “10”.

You’re welcome. I love you.

Alright, here’s the workout. It’s pretty self-explanatory, but please do let me know if you have any questions whatsoever!

How fun, eh?! Woop! Give it a try and please do let me know how it goes! I always love to hear from you!

Have a good workout, my friends. Your body, mind and soul deserve it. xo

Snowy Days & Kiwi Crates Go Hand in Hand – Get Your Kids Building and Learning Before They Drive You Insane

February 15, 2019 By Lindsay Gee

Winter, eh? We’ve been hit hard on Vancouver Island for the past week or so and yes, I know it is NOTHING compared to the Polar Vortex many of you are suffering through. With closed schools due to ridiculously low temperatures, or closures because of crazy amount of snow, you have kids in the house and I’m going to bet by day 3, you’re all going a little squirrelly.

I’m right, aren’t I?

I wanted to share with you a subscription box I received over Christmas from KiwiCo. KiwiCo is a subscription box for your kids filled with hands-on science and art projects. No electronics! Just super cool doing, learning and having fun.

I received the “Atlas” crate for my daughter who is 8 (going on 21) and the “Tinker” crate for my son who is 10. My daughter opened her crate right away and got to work building a globe and learning about where we live in relationship to the rest of the world.

My son? He looked at the box and wanted to go play his video game but opened it once he saw his sister working away on her globe. Much to both of our surprise…his crate involved building a catapult. So yeah…he was in it now and was busy, busy, busy for the next 4 hours building and playing the catapult game he put together and figuring out the best angles to win.

Once they had gone through the entire box of goodies, science and fun, they worked with one another to explain what each had done and what was included in each crate. It was really fun to watch them teach one another.

THEN…our neighbour friends came over and the discovery, teaching and learning continued as they worked through the workbooks included and playing with their “new toys they made”.

During a time when it is so simple to plug your kids into electronics on cold and blustery days, it was incredible to give the kids something to do that they were not only super excited to get to work on, but even more excited to show their friends what they did.

In total, my kids were busy for 5 hours the day they opened their crates and have been playing with the catapult and globe ever since.

With the cold weather and our kids being a little house-bound, this was an incredible “trick up my sleeve” to keep them learning, engaged and off electronics! They’re looking forward to next month when they receive their next crate! Honestly…they check the mail every day!

If you’d like to get a Kiwi Crate, you can get one for FREE if you click this link. You just pay for shipping! Pretty great, eh?

Hours and hours of fun, learning…and QUIET?! YES PLEASE!

What to Expect with my “Lindsay Tries” Video Series

February 10, 2019 By Lindsay Gee

Over the past 22 years I’ve been lucky enough to work in the fitness industry as a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology, a Canadian Forces recruit trainer, a fitness leader advocating for family fitness and as a group exercise instructor in front of 100’s of people stepping, grapevining and HIIT’ing up a storm. To say I love fitness would be an understatement. This industry is my true passion and any time I get to help educate, motivate and/or inspire someone to get moving, I am in my happiest of happy places. I adore it.

Being in the industry for so many years and founding a company built on women supporting women has led to a wicked following of women who are kind, funny, supportive, authentically real and absolutely incredible. The great thing about that in my eyes? Y’all trust me to give you honest opinions, to not advocate for quick fixes when it comes to your fitness and health and to make you laugh. I am me, no hiding that in my social posts, and I’m so grateful that you continue to follow along through this quirky and amazing life I get to lead.

Over the years you’ve asked my opinion on a lot of things. From fitness to nutrition to equipment to skincare to clothing to you name it, you’ve asked me. I’m often asked how I relax, take care of myself and what I do for fun. So, I thought…hey…I’m going to start shooting video of me trying a bunch of things and maybe people will watch!

Enter my “Lindsay Tries” Video Series.

In this video series you’ll watch me trying and reviewing different fitness classes, equipment, beauty products, self-care options, girls’ night out events and…well…whatever it is y’all want me to try!

Here’s what you can expect from these videos:

  • An honest review of the product, class or service (rating based on peanut butter cups – 5/5 peanut butter cups = bombass);
  • Information on how to book, get started and what to expect;
  • Pros and cons (if it’s relevant);
  • Laughter and silliness (because life is heavy enough…video reviews need not be).

If you have in mind a product, class, piece of equipment, skin care regimen, self-care option, girls night out event or anything you’re simply curious about…let me know! I’ll reach out and see if I can’t give it a whirl for you and give you my honest review. I’ll try just about anything, so let me know what you’ve got in mind! Except anything to do with snakes. That’s a no-go. 100% I will tell you to jump off a cliff if it involves snakes.

If you run a business, have a product and/or service you’d love for me to review, please email me at lindsay@lindsaygee.ca and we can chat all about getting products/services reviewed! It’ll be a BLAST!

If you want to know about it, if you’re curious about something…I’ll try it. Just let me know! This is going to fun. This is going to be very, very fun!

Polar Vortex At-Home Workout

February 5, 2019 By Lindsay Gee

It’s c-c-c-cold out there and I’m sure quite a few of you are hunkering down inside for the day/week/month. Combat some of that cabin fever with this Polar Vortex workout you can do at home. No equipment required!

Me? I would repeat the first block twice, then repeat the second block twice.

New to fitness? Just complete each block once.

Need a challenge? Complete each block three times, time yourself to see how long it takes you to complete the block and try to beat that time on your subsequent sets. BAM!

Remember form is everything, so be sure to engage your core, think about moving in your full range of motion and do NOT sacrifice form for speed. Got it?!

Have fun! And, if you try this workout, please do let me know! I’d love to know if it warmed you up.

Stay safe out there. xo

The Workout:

Repeat each block 1-3 times depending on fitness level and/or desire to challenge yourself.

Alright…go on with your bad self and get this workout done! Drink lots of water, stretch, take some deep breaths and acknowledge your greatness and strength once you’re done. M’kay? Woop! Go you!

Comments and questions? Oh good! Drop in the comments section below!

Off you go!

P.S. If you love fitness challenges, be sure to get on the waitlist for my Challenge & Accountability group starting in March!
