Pop-Up Challenge!

I love health and fitness challenges! In fact, I’m making the creation of challenges a major part of what I do to inspire and motivate you to get your buns moving. There are SO MANY challenges out there for you to try, how do you know which ones are actually safe? How do you know which ones are effective?

Erm. You follow me.

Cuz baby, I have a PhD in Exercise Physiology and over 22 years in the industry. I know what I’m doing and I absolutely want you to be successful AND have fun doing it!

So, today I created this fun little one-day challenge. You’ll need to plan for it, because yes…there is planning and dedication involved.

10,000 steps. Yup….you can do it. Meal planning? Yup, that’s in there, too. And what the what?? Hugs and physical contact?! YUP! Why? Because hugging is GOOD FOR YOU!

Here’s the challenge:

Now, before y’all go freaking out and laughing hysterically about the whole “8 hours of sleep” – remember, it’s a goal. This is so you are aware of the fact that maybe, just maybe, you shouldn’t watch Netflix until midnight that night. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll put yourself to bed and give yourself a fighting chance to meet that 8 hours.

*Moms with littles – good luck! I’m honestly wishing the best for you!*

This may seem a little daunting to some, but honestly, it’s doable. In fact, a lot of the members of my Fueled Life Facebook Group (click to join if you haven’t already!) tackled this challenge last week and mentioned how great they felt throughout the day! So…yay!

Save the image to your phone and cross them off as you get them done. You’re going to have to pre-plan some of this (e.g. Pro tip: Seriously, no Netflix for the night…GO TO BED!).

Et voila. Bicketty bam. You’re a rockstar!

You in? You’re in, right? OF COURSE you are. Now, get to work! Off you go!

035 – Week-long Fitness Challenge: Five & Thrive – Day 6

Second last day of our challenge and I sure hope you’re still with me! Remember…these are just 5-minute sessions, so schedule this important 5-minute meeting with yourself and get it done!

If you’re up for the challenge, you can string all of the workouts from Day 1 through 6 together and end up with a full-body 30-minute workout. Or, choose your favorite days and create your own workout duration and focus.

GAH! I just love exercise.

Anywho, Day 6 our focus is on your core. The key to good core exercises is to start each movement by engaging your transverse abdominals – those are the deep, deep, deep abdominal muscles. To do this, think about gently pulling your pelvic floor upwards and engaging the muscles on the inside of your right and left hip bones. This contraction should feel like a gentle tension and not contract so hard that your belly pops out.

Remember, there are multiple ways for you to get through this workout. You can listen to the workout via my podcast, Dig Deep with Dr. Lindsay Gee (just click the play button above) or you can save this graphic to your phone/tablet, set a timer for 5 minutes and get through all these exercises as many times as possible in 5 minutes.

Welcome to a new day and a new challenge! We’re onto Day 4 of the Fueled Life’s 5 & Thrive Fitness Challenge! You guys are rockin’ it! I’m so stinkin’ proud of you all! YAY!

The focus on Day 4 is legs and oooooooh Mama…they’re gonna feel this one. In a good way!

You know the drill by now: either click the triangle above and hear the soothing sounds of my voice coaching you through the workout (hahaha!) or save the graphic below, set your timer for 5 minutes and get through the list of exercises as many times as possible.

Here’s the workout:

Oh yeah…prisoner squats…those ones are suuuuuuper fun! I do love a challenging bodyweight exercise!

Be sure to watch the video below to ensure you know what each exercise is before you begin. Nothing worse than getting started on a workout only to realize you have no idea what you’re doing. Well…there are probably many things worse than than…but watch the video, regardless.

Time for you to rock your workout! Get to it!

Remember, you can create a fabulous 20-minute workout if you string together days 1 through 5: cardio, upper body, box and now lower body…it’s killer when put together! Let me know if you give it a try!

Oh…it’s happening, party people! We’re about to embark on a week-long challenge. The next 7 episodes will be 5-minute workouts for your sweating pleasure. Simply do one 5-minute workout OR string them together so that at the end of the week you have a killer 35-minute full-body workout!

Today’s workout is all cardio, baby! Listen along as I explain the workout and talk you through it! It’s just 5 exercises for 5 minutes. Easy peasy lemon squeezy! You got this!

Here’s the workout:

Set a timer for 5-minutes (if you’re choosing to do this without my sweet voice in your ear and repeat the list of exercises for the entire 5 minutes. Try to get through as many rounds as possible!

Haaaaaaaaay! Woop! Go on with your bad self and get this one done! You can do it! 5 minutes. That’s all it’s going to take!

What to Expect with my “Lindsay Tries” Video Series

Over the past 22 years I’ve been lucky enough to work in the fitness industry as a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology, a Canadian Forces recruit trainer, a fitness leader advocating for family fitness and as a group exercise instructor in front of 100’s of people stepping, grapevining and HIIT’ing up a storm. To say I love fitness would be an understatement. This industry is my true passion and any time I get to help educate, motivate and/or inspire someone to get moving, I am in my happiest of happy places. I adore it.

Being in the industry for so many years and founding a company built on women supporting women has led to a wicked following of women who are kind, funny, supportive, authentically real and absolutely incredible. The great thing about that in my eyes? Y’all trust me to give you honest opinions, to not advocate for quick fixes when it comes to your fitness and health and to make you laugh. I am me, no hiding that in my social posts, and I’m so grateful that you continue to follow along through this quirky and amazing life I get to lead.

Over the years you’ve asked my opinion on a lot of things. From fitness to nutrition to equipment to skincare to clothing to you name it, you’ve asked me. I’m often asked how I relax, take care of myself and what I do for fun. So, I thought…hey…I’m going to start shooting video of me trying a bunch of things and maybe people will watch!

Enter my “Lindsay Tries” Video Series.

In this video series you’ll watch me trying and reviewing different fitness classes, equipment, beauty products, self-care options, girls’ night out events and…well…whatever it is y’all want me to try!

Here’s what you can expect from these videos:

  • An honest review of the product, class or service (rating based on peanut butter cups – 5/5 peanut butter cups = bombass);
  • Information on how to book, get started and what to expect;
  • Pros and cons (if it’s relevant);
  • Laughter and silliness (because life is heavy enough…video reviews need not be).

If you have in mind a product, class, piece of equipment, skin care regimen, self-care option, girls night out event or anything you’re simply curious about…let me know! I’ll reach out and see if I can’t give it a whirl for you and give you my honest review. I’ll try just about anything, so let me know what you’ve got in mind! Except anything to do with snakes. That’s a no-go. 100% I will tell you to jump off a cliff if it involves snakes.
